Maria

Maria, called Mania, was born in Vilnius in 1873. This is what Bronisław wrote about his 10-years-old sister, “Mania likes to steal and is stubborn; she won’t say anything, but does what she wants. If she does something wrong, she runs away.” Maria married Cezary Juchniewicz. They had two daughters, Maria and Wanda, who were frequent guests at Marshal Piłsudski’s home. Their mother died in 1921 at the age of 48. She is buried in the Kobierzyn-Czerwone Maki Cemetery in Kraków, which belongs to a specialized hospital, then a psychiatric hospital.
